Get ready to have your heart melted! Meet Pixie - our red long hair Dachshund who may only weigh five pounds but she's so big on cuteness! She's also a very determined little girl! She came to us from an animal control where she appeared to have lost her ability to walk. But once out, with a little worming, some doggie massages and our handy "Doxie Rehab Meds" she not only walked but started enjoying time in the sun and rolling in the grass. After laying down for a while, Pixie's back legs move a little stiff sometimes, but she's always ready to walk it out. Like the rest of our darling Dachshunds, she rears up on those hind legs and begs to be picked up to snuggle on the bed. She hangs with the pack and gets along with everyone, but put her in your lap and she shows you how sweet and tender she can be! Pixie is an older Dachshund but has many years to share with the right home. As with any breed, Dachshund owners must be attentive to certain needs - protect their backs by lifting them properly and preventing high jumps and expect dental care.
