Do not let that fool you as this boy loves to take walks, play with toys and his foster dog sisters! He is house trained in his foster home and will go to door when he needs to go out. This boy is full of energy and behaves like a puppy as this is the first time he is in a home. He is very curious about everything and needs reminders what he can and cannot play with. He is in a home with three other dogs and a 20 month old child. He is very good with dogs and children, however he does not realize how strong/ big he is and knocks down both child and his smaller foster sisters! His foster family continues to work on his “love nibbling” and puppy like behaviors. Sarg is a total love but who Iikes to snuggle with his people, however is cautious when it comes to his injured leg. When he is sleeping be aware to let him know you are going to touch it.if you want a true love who will forever be grateful, Datg is your man. with dogs and children, however he does not realize how strong/ big he is and knocks down both child and his smaller foster sisters! Sergeant came to our rescue as part of an animal neglect case in our county. He had been shot in his right rear leg by an unknown person and his owner, who was well aware of his injuries, did absolutely nothing to help his dog. For an unknown amount of time, Sergeant limped around on the leg and was in an incredible amount of pain. An examination by our vet determined that Sergeant's leg was broken, that he was shot at close range and from behind. Even though our vet inserted a rod into his leg, Sergeant still refuses to put much weight on it or use the leg. Our vet assured us that Sergeant isn't in any pain, that he may never fully use the leg again but that amputation was not necessary.

Since being rescued, Sergeant has spent most of his time in recovery at our vet's office. He's been very friendly to the vet's staff and SoCo team members who visit him on occasion. He's a little shy when first meeting people, who could blame him, but hasn't shown any aggressive behavior towards people or other dogs. He does warm up to people after being around them for only a short while.

Sergeant has now been neutered, received an update on all of his vaccinations and de-wormed. He also tested negative for heartworms at our vet's office and should be kept on the monthly preventative for the rest of his life.
