**Jasper will be available for adoption at our upcoming adoption event at Rosedale Mills in Pennington, NJ over the Feb 17-19 weekend**
Jasper's former owner turned him into our vet's office to be euthanized simply because they didn't have time for him. Luckily, our vet's office saw the potential in Jasper and talked the former owner into simply releasing him to their care so they could find him a new home. Once we met Jasper, we were all too happy to help this wonder dog.
Jasper is very friendly towards people and other dogs. He is a happy dog and will smile at you basically on command. He also knows "Sit", "Stay" and "Shake". He also seems to enjoy playing fetch but may not have yet mastered the art of the game. No doubt, with a little practice, Jasper will be playing fetch with the best of them. He also walks well on a leash, stopping when commanded to do so and doesn't pull excessively. In a nut shell, he is a wonderful, well-behaved dog. His only negative aspect is that he will jump up on a person when excited but responded very well to our commands of "Down". He's also had some house training.
Japser has been fully vetted, including neutered. He did test positive for heart worms and our vet interpreted his test results as "low positive". He's already been started on a monthly prevented as his treatment option, known as the "Slow Kill" method of treating heart worms. With his "low" positive status, Jasper could be free and clear of the worms within a year's time if kept on the monthly preventative. Consult your veterinarian or ask a member of SoCo Rescue for more info about heart worms and the different treatment options
