Hansel was first spotted coming out of a drainage pipe by a man in the area.  When the man tried to catch him, Hansel ran into the woods.  Two days later Hansel wandered onto this man's back porch and ate a whole bowl of cat food.  It was obvious poor Hansel was very hungry.  The man was able to catch him and brought him to SoCo Rescue.  When Hansel arrived at the rescue he was very depressed, very sad and very scared.  He was flea infested, malnourished and missing hair in different spots.  SoCo animal care technicians cared for Hansel and gave him some food.  Poor Hansel was so terrified he wouldn't eat a thing until the animal technicians left the room.  At the beginning Hansel remained terrified and distant and just stayed in the corner of his kennel. After a week Hansel started to come around and learned to trust.  His wonderful personality began to show and his fondness for affection blossomed.  Hansel is now a well adjusted little guy.  His hair grew back and he loves to play and be doted upon.  Hansel would make a great addition to just about any home.
UPDATE: Hansel, (aka..Simba) has been in foster for just over 2 weeks  now in New Jersey andis doing amazing. He loves to play with his 18 month old foster pup and is just madley in love with his foster mom and sisters. He's walking well on his harness and is learning commands. They describe him as a silly loving boy. 

As of 8/30/16 it's estimated Hansel is six months old.  He is current on all his first year vaccinations- DHLPP, Rabies & Bordetella, and he is neutered.  If interested in this handsome little guy please submit an application to www.socorescue.com.
