Disaster Recovery Continues...
On Septmeber 24th Hurricane Helene took a direct hit on SoCo Rescue and the Tarrytown area.  With heavy rains & strong winds, there was major destruction to our beautiful property, our silo & kennels.  We are extremely thankful that Scott, our Staff and ALL dogs were safe!
Our NJ Team felt helpless & quickly put together a plan to collect much needed supplies.  We sent out a plea on our social media pages & within 2 days we collected enough donations to fill a 16’ box truck.  A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of our Supporters, Alumni, Friends, Family & Neighbors.
We are humbled that other organizations reached out to help too!  Thank you to Glad Dog Foundation, Tractor Supply and Neshanic United Methodist Church for their generous donations.
After loading up a full truck, Kevin Kime, our SoCo "Angel" who just happens to have 2 SoCo Alumni, made the 800-mile journey to deliver much needed supplies.
We are also grateful to Penske at Colonial Motors in Branchburg, NJ  for giving us a huge discount on the box truck rental, it certainly was helpful that they are dog lovers too!
When Kevin arrived the next day, he was greeted by Scott and our SoCo Staff, although they had lost so much themselves, they still showed up to help unload. Kevin said that the look on their faces was priceless when he opened the back of the truck and they saw all the much needed supplies.  It sure was a turning point for them after feeling so helpless.  Thankfully Kevin made the 800-mile journey back to NJ in record time & even said he's happy to take the drive again if we need him too.
The community in GA has been helping out too!  It's so hard to ask for help when you know everyone around you has been affected by Hurricane Helene, but you are thrilled when a dog loving person like Conner shows up!  Conner in particular has been a wonderful asset to SoCo, he spent a day at the rescue, donating his time, picking through the debris and salvaging pieces to make new kennels to make the dogs more comfortable.  When no one would return our phone calls, Conner reached out to his contacts & coordinated to have a dumpster & port o potty delivered the next day.  He & his wife also made a monetary donation as well as brought a warm meal for Scott!
Although we were grateful to have a couple of generators donated, it still was a long, noisy and expensive 3 weeks without electricity.  Scott and the staff all breathed a sigh of relief when the power trucks arrived on Vance Road!

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, kindness, and support we have received during this difficult time.  We feel very blessed that we only lost "things", people in this area lost family members or everything they owned.  Scott & our staff are the true heros, they managed to keep all of our dogs safe & out of harms way.

However, our work is far from over.  We’ve been working tirelessly to repair the damage from Hurricane Helene and ensure every dog receives the care they deserve. We urgently need fencing materials to rebuild our pens and play yards, we need manpower to help with cleanup and we need financial help to keep going.  With a humble heart, we ask for your help. Your support is crucial in helping us continue our mission of rescuing dogs and finding them loving homes.

Every donation to SoCo Rescue directly assists with food for the dogs, repairs to kennels and essential supplies to keep the rescue running.  No amount is too small; every dollar makes a difference. Together, we can bring hope and relief to those affected and help SoCo Rescue to bounce back stronger than ever.

Thank you for standing with us. Your generosity means the world to us and the animals we serve.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Scott and the SoCo Rescue Team
