Sophie was found in a yard of an animal loving woman who lives in the area.  She was surrendered to us because the woman's landlord doesn't let her have animals in her home.  At first we thought Sophie would be retrieved by her owner because she was in pretty good condition and she is just an extremely sweet and friendly little girl.  We thought someone had to be missing her.  As some time went on though and Sophie was not retrieved by anyone, we realized she was ours.  She’s great playing with other dogs, comes to you when called, and just loves to sit on your lap and be petted.  She’s got a very “people pleasing” personality, and learns quickly.  She is a fantastic little companion for just about anyone.  Sophie would adjust and be happy in pretty much any home.  Her goal is to be loved and give the same in return.

Sophie is an Affenpinscher mix and is about a year old.  She is current on all her vaccinations and is spayed.  On her recent vet examination, Sophie tested positive for heartworms.  She currently is on a monthly treatment in which the heartworms slowly die off.  Once adopted, Sophie will need to be kept on a heartworm preventative.  She appears to be in excellent health otherwise.  Sophie is quick to learn but will need to be house trained once in her new environment .  She is a small dog and would be a great for an apartment or house.  If you can sponsor Sophie or give her the home she deserves, please submit an application at www.socorescue.com.
