Description:
Mandy was surrendered to us by a concerned family member of the owner. The owner was said to be heavily into drugs and there were severe signs of neglect of their dogs. Mandy came in with her mom Daisy and four litter mates. Hard to believe at the sight of her but Daisy was a registered Brittany Spaniel. Though she was still beautiful and sweet as could be when she came in, just the sight of her would make you cry because of how badly malnourished she was. She was literally just skin and bones. While nursing her pups, she was simultaneously being eaten away by a severe heart worm infestation. Because of Daisy’s condition, two of her litter passed from starvation before they could even make it to the rescue. Poor sweet Daisy came to the point where she could no longer eat or even stand up. The hardest decision possible was made and Daisy was humanely euthanized at our veterinarian, Dr. Barr’s office. The last thing she saw and heard was Soco staff telling her how much they loved her and that her pups would get all the love and care possible. Unfortunately though, shortly thereafter; two more of Mandy’s litter mates became very ill as well. Though all possible measures were to taken to save them, they also sadly passed away. Out of an original litter of seven and their mom, all that was left was beautiful baby Mandy her two precious little sisters. All of the pups were really small and severely malnourished when surrendered. They were completely covered with fleas. Mandy was given multiple flea baths and flea treatments. She was wormed and monitored closely. She was fed small portions multiple times a day so she could get her weight up gradually. Mandy's transformation is one for the books and is miraculously beautiful. She now is an absolutely adorable, very playful and loving, sweet baby girl. She has a calm demeanor about her and loves kisses. She really enjoys playing with her sisters and most definitely loves her toys. Mandy’s incoming story is truly heartbreaking- losing her mother and four siblings in a month's time. To look at her now, no-one would ever know how horrific her start in life began. Mandy is very strong and resilient. With an adorable black patch around her right eye, she has a face and personality that you will fall in love with instantly. Mandy is about 5 months old, up to date on all her current vaccinations, but will need to be spayed once she reaches the appropriate age of 6-7 months. She is a Spaniel Pointer mix and will be a medium size dog once fully grown. Though she learns quickly, Mandy will need to be house trained once in her new environment. The adversity this sweet angel has faced in her short life so far makes her a true miracle. We’ve done our best with Mandy to provide her with all the love and care she so desperately deserves. If you think you can continue her journey with happy love and care, please submit an application at www.socorescue.com.
