Thatcher, a young Bulldog mix, has had a tough time catching a break. This 1 1/2 to 2 year old handsome fellow was taken in by another rescue and was placed into a foster home. That rescue promised to find him a good home and give him proper vet care.  

He was neutered but suffered some complications after surgery. This caused him to have to undergo another surgery, which delayed his adoption posting. At some point and time while being seen by a vet, Thatcher did test positive for heart worms. We're not sure how severely infected he is, but do know that the rescue he is rgistered to promised to get him treated. So far, that has not happened. His current foster family does have him on a monthly preventative to keep him from contracting any more heart worms and they report that Thatcher doesn't seem to be suffering from any ill effects  from the heart worms he has. Thatcher's foster mom did administer all other vaccines, so he is up to date on all his yearly shots.

Thatcher is a very people friendly dog but does have issues with other male dogs. He doesn't seem to show any aggression towards female dogs, but it still may be best if he was placed into a home with no other dogs. He will make a great addition to a family that has no other dogs or someone willing and experienced with training a dog-aggressive dog.

If an adopter is found, SoCo Rescue will help raise the funds needed to get him heart worm treated. Since Thatcher is a "courtesy" listing, SoCo Rescue is not asking for any adoption fee, but the owning rescue may ask for an adoption fee.

Please don't let the "downside" to Thatcher keep him from getting a home. Thatcher has a lot of love to give, he just needs a chance.
