Over the years, SoCo Rescue has rescued a number of dogs from a nasty, run-down trailer park in Glenwood. In addition to the "normal" issues that the dogs in the park face due to lack of proper care, others have been shot, beaten and suffered other forms of abuse. Such is the case for Chelle, who was found wandering in the trailer park after half of her right rear leg had been cut off. Her injury was fresh, still bleeding and badly infected. Luckily for Chelle, one of the park's residents gave her a safe place to stay while we worked on getting her into our rescue. 

Since that time, Chelle has made a remarkable recovery. She has always been very receptive to our help, shows her appreciation through her very affectionate ways and shows absolutely no aggression towards anyone or other dogs. While she has every right to be a bitter dog, Chelle is a very sweet and gentle dog that'll make a great family addition. And after what she's been through, no dog deserves a loving, safe home more than she does.

Chelle has had all of her annual vaccinations, de-wormings, monthly preventatives and other such care renewed and kept up to date. She's also been spay and recently tested negative for heartworms. While our vet initially suggested amputating the remainder of her injured leg, we opted to leave her leg as is so that a prosthetic leg could be attached, if needed, in the future. But  she has absolutely no problems walking or running and does not appear to be in any pain. A basic cleaning of that leg where it was cut is all that's required to keep it free from infection.
