***Number 1 is with a loving foster home in Pennington , NJ. Applications for his adoption should be submitted at socorescue.com. Questions about Number 1 and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com (no calls please).*** While driving home from an adoption event in New Jersey, Scott Bennett came across two stray dogs that had become trapped in the media of I-95 in South Carolina. After not receiving much help from the local animal control and spending 7 hours sitting in the marsh-like conditions of the median, Scott was able to catch both dogs, one being a young, pregnant Lab mix. On May 31, 2023, Scott got to witness the birth of Number 1 and his two brothers, now known as Number 3 and Bridger. If you follow our Facebook page, you can read more about the incredible rescue of Number 1 and the rest of his family. Number 1 got his name since he was the first of the three pups born. Besides being an extremely handsome pup, he's also very smart and picks up on commands rather quickly. He's also going to be a very large dog once fully grown, already pushing 40 lbs at just under 7 months old. He's well socialized towards people, loves to play with other dogs and will make an excellent companion for just about anyone. He does need additional training and has a lot of that "puppy" energy, so caution should be used if there will be small children in the home. Number 1 has now received all three of his first year "puppy" vaccines, his Bordetella and rabies vaccinations, de-wormed on proper intervals as well as being neutered. He does need additional house training. He is a very active, strong dog and will thrive in a home that allows him plenty of room to exercise often throughout the day.
