Description:
***Dixie is currently located at a foster home in Georgia. She may be at our upcoming adoption event at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the Dec 9-10 weekend. To apply for the adoption of Dixie, please submit an adoption application at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Dixie and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please no phone calls. Dixie and her two pups came to our rescue as strays after taking up residence at a home in Glenwood, GA. While Dixie's pups were approximately 4-5 months old at the time, the lack of finding a sustainable source of food had her still nursing them. We were able to get mom and both pups into a foster home, which is where Dixie still remains. The foster home employs kennels with indoor/outdoor access and a large play yard where Dixie and her best friend, Daisy, run and play together. Dixie has been excellent the entire time she has been with us. She's made friends with a number of dogs, gets along great with the cats at the foster location and has quickly made friends with all of the new people she's met. She's a very gentle, sweet soul who is laid back and calm but very affectionate. If you're looking for a great companion who will do very well with other dogs, cats and loves to meet new people, then Dixie is the perfect match for you! Since her arrival in June of 2022, Dixie has been kept up to date on her annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly preventatives in addition to being spayed. When she first arrived, Dixie tested positive for heartworms; she completed her "Fast Kill" treatment this past September. She has some house training but may need a refresher course once in a new home. (**Better pics of Dixie are forthcoming)
