Questions about Pippi. and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com (please do not call the shelter)*** Towards the end of July, 2023, SoCo Rescue was contacted by a woman seeking help for her dogs. The city of Eastman, GA had impounded a number of her dogs after she was found to be in violation of their ordinance which regulated the number of dogs allowed at a home. The city had a strict 5 Day Hold policy, after which they would be euthanized. Among the dogs facing death were four 2 month old puppies whose mother was also at the shelter. With just one day remaining on their Hold time, Scott Bennett was able to secure a safe place for both adult dogs and the four pups to go and prompted him to actually tell the AC officers to "Tell the hangman he has tomorrow off!". But for Pippi and her three siblings, their fight to live was just beginning. Prior to being impounded, this litter consisted of six pups. Since their former owner had not been able to afford proper vet care for the pups, they all became highly infested with worms. One of the six passed away just before the others were impounded, another lost it's life while at the animal control and both of Pippi's brothers succumbed to the worms within days of being rescued from the shelter. Pippi and her one remaining sibling, her sister Paige, survived their ordeal. Pippi's very playful and energetic personality is what sets her apart from other pups her age. She's the more alpha of her sibling but does play very well with all the other pups. Her amazing love of people will make her a great candidate for just about any home situation. Pippi has received all three of her first year "puppy" vaccines, her rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, been de-wormed and treated again parasites and started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She's also been spayed. She will require additional house, leash and basic training.
