His foster mom writes…

His foster mom writes…. He has excelled in listening to commands, interaction and communication with all ages and sizes of dogs. He’s quiet as a mouse when gated by himself and not destructive. He gets put up top in a separate dog area by himself 2 times a day 2 to 3 hours each so he doesn’t get needy and form separation anxiety. He’s excellent at that.

I taught him to walk on a leash and doesn’t pull but with a new person you may have a bit of a restart because he needs a few days to warm up to his new people. He needs the one thing I can’t give him, and that’s walks in town, or an household with more people etc to get him over his fear of new people.

This dog is close to perfect and he tires easily cause he big boned, but still a ton of fun throughput the day for another playful dog.

………………………………….

You may recall that last June SoCo Rescue and an out of state rescue were able to save a number of dogs who were facing death by shooting by local law enforcement after their owner had been incarcerated and the owner's female friend had been evicted from the property. What initially seemed to be an impossible task with a horrible ending looming turned out to be just another example of how SoCo Rescue lives up to it's motto of "Find A Way" when it comes to rescuing dogs.

What you didn't know about this situation was that a litter of 4-5 week old pups that had been born on the property, and whose mom was among those later rescued, had been removed by a dedicated SoCo staff member after her first visit to the property. She also took the father of the pups, who passed away in her car that very same day  due to extremely poor health. Tragically, only one pup  was strong enough to survive and he goes by the name Scout.

Scout has become  strong, healthy and happy while under the personal care of the SoCo staff member who worked tirelessly to save his life. Scout's  wonderful personality makes him very friendly to kids, other dogs, cats and even the farm animals at his rescuer's home. This fellow loves everyone, no matter the species or gender! Still being young, Scout has a lot of energy and can sometimes be persistent in his playing and a bit irritating to his caretakers older dogs, but never aggressive. You most likely won't find a better choice for a family companion than Scout!

Scout has now received all of his first-year "puppy" vaccines. He's also received his rabies and bordetella vaccines, been de-wormed and treated against parasites on proper intervals and started on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. His adopter must agree to having Scout neutered once he reaches 6 months of age and provide verification tumor rescue. Scout will need additional basic training, but has been doing very well with his house training.
