Tiffi and her five siblings came into our rescue as owner surrenders and at a very young age, approx 7-8 weeks. There former owner, we later discovered, was an unlicensed (or backyard) breeder in our area and also rumored to have been involved in dog fighting in some aspect, most likely selling their pups to known participants of that cruel and inhumane, not to mention illegal, practice. None of the pups had received any of their required de-wormings or vaccinations and we could easily tell that they were loaded with parasites and worms. The owner initially insisted on keeping one of the pups but after we pointed out the lack of care they had been given and that they looked rather sickly, we were able to convince the owner to also surrender that pup as well. While we immediately started the pups on their basic care, within days they started to display signs of a much more serious illness, which was confirmed to be Parvo. Under the guidance of our vet’s office, we were able to treat the pups in-house and managed to save four of the six, loosing the two smallest of the litter. Tiffi and her three remaining siblings made a full recovery and are now very healthy.
Tiffi sure does give her brothers a run for their money during playtime! While she's definitely not afraid of getting "down and dirty" with the boys, she's also a very calm and affectionate pup. As with any young pup of any breed, proper training will ensure that Tiffi grows up to become a great addition into just about any home situation.
Tiffi has now received her first year “puppy” vaccinations, been de-wormed, treated against parasites and started on her monthly preventatives. Her adopter will agree to having her spay once she reaches 6 months of age and provide verification to our rescue. She will require all of her basic training.
