Description:
Stone is doing great in foster! He is super friendly and playful. He proves to be house trained and is working on crate training. He is curious but doing well with the family cat. Stone is friendly to everyone he meets and knows basic commands. He is good on a leash and loves meeting other dogs. We initially met Stone after learning that he had been hanging out at a local store for a few days. He was obviously very hungry and would spend his time searching for whatever tiny morsel of food he could find. Stone was actually being transported back to SoCo Rescue when SoCo President and CEO Scott Bennett suffered a nasty kidney stone attack that eventually left him sidelined for well over a month. While parked along the side of the road and in excruciating pain, Scott tagged the new member of the SoCo family as "Stone". After seeing a "Found Dog" posting on our Facebook page, Stone's owner came and reclaimed her dog, stating that her "must have escaped" and had been missing for days. We were initially very happy that Stone was reunited with his owner, but the very next day we received another call informing us that Stone was once again wandering freely, darting into the road and almost getting hit by passing cars. After we secured Stone a second time, we contacted the owner and were told that she would come get him the next day. But the owner never came, never returned any more of our calls and apparently decided that they no longer wanted him. Stone wasted no time in letting us know just how much he appreciated the love and devotion that we gave to him, not to mention the regular feedings each day. He's been very friendly to everyone he meets and has been extremely friendly towards other dogs. He's smart, handsome and full of play and would make an excellent companion for anyone looking for an active dog. Stone has now been neutered, received an update on all of his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and kept on his monthly preventatives. He recently tested negative for heartworms as well. His adopter should be prepared to offer additional house and leash training. To apply for the adoption of Stone, please submit an application at socorescue.com. (no need to register or login).
