**Adoption Pending**

When Apollo and his sister arrived at our rescue in late April, their condition left us speechless. They both had such a horrible case of demodex mange that their little bodies were completely void of any fur and they were covered in dead skin cells (see the before pics included). The buildup of the dead cells was so thick that we were literally peeling it off in layers which then exposed their red, irritated skin. Both pups were beyond miserable and their skin was unable to breath, putting their lives at risk.

But after removing the crusty substance, bathing them in medicated shampoo and giving them a Bravecto flea/tick pill, which kills the demodex, both pups were on their way to recovering from their affliction. Still,it took a few weeks before the itching and irritation subsided and they started to regrow their fur. We profiled and updated their condition regularly on our social media pages as we were really proud of the recovery that these two made. Now, with a full coat of beautiful fur, both Apollo and Athena are now ready to find their forever homes. We are hopeful that someone will adopt the pair together but will allow individual homes for both.

From their intake date, Apollo has been very receptive to our efforts to help him. Even today he remains very well socialized towards people and will make a great family companion. Apollo is the more dominate of he two, but not aggressive, and thoroughly enjoys playing with his sister.

Apollo has now been fully vetted, including being neutered and receiving an update on all vaccines, de-wormings and such. We do recommend keeping him on the Bravecto, which is a 3 month preventative for fleas/ticks. Apollo will need all of his basic training.

If you can offer a great home for Apollo, please submit an application at socorescue.com
