Description:
On Jan 7, 2020 Jersi, along with her mom and her eight siblings, found themselves confined within a local high kill animal control. While another rescue in the area had committed to saving them, their plans fell through, leaving Jersi and her family stuck at the county shelter even longer. During that time, Jersi and her siblings contracted worms, which went untreated and multiplied. This shelter doesn't provide any medications, vaccines or other basic care to the dogs they acquire and doesn't even provide food to the dogs on weekends, holidays and/or closed days. A rather inexpensive de-wormer would have made a huge difference in this situation, but the county's refusal to provide humane care turned it into such a needless tragedy. After spending a total of 20 days at the animal control, all eight of Jersi's siblings perished with Jersi, herself, being a day or two away from also passing away. As soon as we were made aware of the situation, SoCo Rescue arraigned to get Jersi and her mom into a foster home and immediately started providing them with the care they needed. Jersi has made a full recovery from her ordeal and hasn't let that affect her outlook on life. She's calm, friendly and loves the affection she receives from her human counterparts. With tail wagging, Jersi loves to lay her head on your shoulders as your holding her! With Jersi's current personality and in considering her mom is also a very sweet and loving girl, we do believe Jersi will make a great family companion for just about any home. Jersi has now received 2/3 of her first year "puppy" vaccines; rabies and bordetella vaccinations; de-wormed; treated against parasites and started on her monthly preventatives. Her adopter must agree to having her spay once Jersi reaches 6 months of age and provide proof of such to our rescue.
