Shaggy and his friend, Shanty, were surrendered to our rescue after their former owner, an elderly man, realized that his poor health was causing his dogs to also suffer. While the man loved his dogs dearly, he knew it was in their best interest to give them up. Unfortunately the man failed to tell us their names so we just recently gave the pair new names.

When Shaggy arrived,he was so badly in need of grooming that he appeared to be twice his size and we couldn't even see his eyes. After a good grooming, we were able to see how small Shaggy truly was. 

We've also discovered that Shaggy is the ultimate friendly dog. He's never met a stranger will bark at a strange dog but has gotten along very well with other dogs his size, even sharing a kennel with four others. Shaggy would do well in just about any home situation but a home with a retired/senior person would be ideal for him.

Shaggy has been fully vetted, tested negative for heartworms and received a clean bill of health from our vet. We've kept him on his monthly preventatives as well. While his former owner said Shaggy was house trained, his adopter should be prepared to give Shaggy additional training.
