Shanty and her friend, Shaggy, were surrendered to our rescue after their former owner, an elderly man, realized that his poor health was causing his dogs to also suffer. While the man loved his dogs dearly, he knew it was in their best interest to give them up. Unfortunately the man failed to tell us their names so we just recently gave the pair new names.

Shanty is such a perfect little lap dog, being very friendly and affectionate. She is the typical Chihuahua in that she will bark at  strange noises and such but isn't an excessive barker. Even so, with a face this cute, who couldn't love and adore her? 

Shanty has been fully vetted, tested negative for heartworms and received a clean bill of health from our vet. We've kept her on her monthly preventatives as well. While her former owner said she was house trained, her adopter should be prepared to give Shanty additional training.
