Sophie will be at our adoption on 1/11th weekend at Rosedale Mills in Pennington, NJ. 
**Sophie is in a loving foster home & they are seeing a transformation!  Here’s what her foster mom said about her....Sophie is an extremely affectionate, sweet, beautiful young lady. She bonds very well and loves caresses, is fully house and crate trained, does not bark unnecessarily, and is friendly with all humans. She responds well to “no”, especially if said when looking at her in the eyes. She has plenty of energy, and would do well in a household that can appreciate her playfulness. She still needs some socializing with other dogs because she has not had too many opportunities to interact with animals, but her foster anticipates she will learn this well. Make sure she has her chewing bones, she loves them and keeps herself entertained with them.She is crate & house trained, she is less mouthy and just loves to be loved.  She needs an active family that will make sure she gets the every she needs.
This is why fostering is so important, it gives a dog like Sophie the attention she desperately needed. **

Sophie came to SoCo Rescue as an owner surrender. In the past the same person surrendered three other dogs, Sophie's pups no less, but we didn't have room for Sophie at that time. We made a promise to Sophie to get her into our rescue ASAP and are very glad we did. While Sophie's former owner told us of the "great" care he provided her, we soon found out that she was living alone in an outdoor kennel, heartworm positive, unvaccinated and starving for human interaction.

Sophie is a very sweet and affectionate girl. She's very kind to everyone she meets but sometimes gets a little nervous around new things and people upon first meeting them. Sophie can be dog selective but we think she'll be able to coexist with just the right dog. This all may be due to her lack of human interaction at her former home combined with the apparent strong Shepherd breeding in her mix. Sophie will NOT do well in a house with cats.

Sophie's prior life left her without many indoor living skills so she'll most likely need some patience and training once in a home. But once you get to know this wonderful girl you'll see why we think the effort is well worth it. 

Sophie has now been spay, full vaccinated and kept on her monthly preventatives. As stated, she was heartworm positive when she came to us but has since been treated for them. A microchip will accompany her adoption.
