When Porter was approximately 4 months of age,  he was already facing a life threatening injury due to neglect. The story we were given was that Porter's former owner secured him to a tether then left for vacation. The cable had gotten wrapped around Porter's right rear leg, cutting off the circulation and causing his leg to rot. A neighbor contacted a fellow rescuer who then was able to get Porter from the home. Unfortunately Porter's leg couldn't be saved and had to be amputated. Despite the amputation, Porter gets around just fine, running and playing as if he had all 4 legs! SoCo Rescue was asked to help find Porter a new home.

Porter has proven to be a very friendly dog. He does play well with other dogs and loves his time with people but he does growl at other dogs when he's eating. Other than that one bad trait, Porter is such a wonderful, well socialized pup. He will make a great family companion

Porter has also been fully neutered, received all of his first year vaccinations, de-wormed and started on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
