Other Pictures of Nicky (click to see larger version):**Nicky is currently being fostered in the Pennington, NJ area** Nicky's story, be it a common one for dogs in our area, captured the hearts of many. drawing love and support from the east to the west coast.
Left behind when his former owners moved away, Nicky remained at his former house waiting for who he thought was his best friend to return and take him to his new home. But his friend, the person that he had been loyal to for entire life, never returned.
For over three weeks Nicky, unsecured and free to leave at any time, stayed on the property hoping and waiting. A property maintenance worker noticed Nicky while he was working at the home and took compassion on this abandoned dog. The worker took dog food and water to Nicky on a daily basis and tried to give him the love and care that he needed. When it became apparent that Nicky's former owner wasn't returning, the worker contacted SoCo Rescue seeking help for Nicky and we took him in.
We quickly discovered that Nicky was "high" positive for heartworms . Thanks to the love and support shown for Nicky from people all over the world, we were able to get Nicky to improved health, have him fully vetted and even treated for his heartworms.
Nicky is a very people friendly fellow and seems to love people. He's not overly active but does love to take walks and run and play in an open yard. Still, he can often be found just laying in the sun and enjoying the day while out in our play yard.
While Nicky encountered a neighbor's dog while at his former home and displayed no aggression, he will act aggressively towards a dog that shows aggression towards him. We would suggest a meet and greet if another dog is to be involved at his new home. We have yet to cat test Nicky.
