**Powell will be available for adoption at Rosedale Mills, Pennington, NJ, over the Dec 1-3 weekend**

Prior to coming to SoCo, Powell had lived as a stray, taking refuge at a local apartment complex and living off the kindness of a few people. But during that same time, one man seemed to make it his quest to kill Powell, going as far as knocking Powell out with a bat and shooting him twice. One of those times included shooting Powell in the face with a shotgun! After our local law enforcement refused to charge the man for animal cruelty, a few of the apartment's residents came to SoCo seeking help for this poor abused dog. Despite the abuse he suffered, Powell has remained a very people friendly dog. He also gets along pretty well with other dogs but seems to be better with females rather than male dogs. His ever-present smile and superb personality will have you wondering how anyone could even think of hurting this dog? 

Powell has now recovered from his injures although he'll aways have some scarring. He recently tested negative for heart worms, was neutered and received an update on all of his vaccinations. He's also been started on his monthly preventatives and appears to be in excellent health. While he'll most likely need some house training, he walks excellent on a leash and seems very eager to learn new traits.
