Description:
The following is a heartfelt eulogy for dear Andy, written by his foster mom Gail Krueger on Thanksgiving Day, 2008: As some of you already know, we lost another one on Thanksgiving morning. Andy was our big ugly, goofy hound boy. We adopted him and his brother Amos (no, we didn't name them) in 2005. They were old when we agreed to foster them for a small rescue group. Large, elderly and inseparable, they didn't exactly have much of a chance at being adopted. But, “the boys” grew on everybody who met them. Amos died earlier this year; Andy died Thanksgiving Day after complications arising from an infection and a possible blood clot. I wish everyone could have known him. He was a homely thing, with all sorts of lumps where dogs don't need them. But, he was also one of the kindest and most gentle spirits I have ever encountered in this life. He fairly radiated good cheer. His reaction to everything--and I mean everything--was to wag his tail furiously. Folks always reacted to him the same way--for about two seconds they soaked in his obvious lack of beauty. A moment later, they were down on their knees visiting with him, laughing with him, basking in his overflowing, hopelessly infectious canine happiness and joy. What an absolute delight this guy was. Doug and I are deeply grieving for the loss of a dearly beloved companion...and a wonderful friend. Gail Original Adoption info on Amos & Andy (2005): Amos and Andy are brothers who- as abandoned puppies - were taken in by a gentle man who raised them for many years together allowing them to form lifelong bonds with each other. Sadly, their human died and these boys once again faced uncertainty - but together. With no family to take them, they ended up at a high kill Animal Control. That's when we stepped in and today they are living in a wonderful foster home in Savannah GA.
