Description:
**Nova will be available for adoption at Rosedale Mills over the Sept 29-Oct 1 weekend.** In July 2017 a family that SoCo Rescue had been helping for the previous 2 years simply moved away and left 9 of their dogs alone at their former residence. When we were first told of this the family assured us that they were going to feed, water and check on the 9 dogs everyday and that the dogs were all “doing fine” But something told us to go check on them just to make sure the dogs were being well cared for. When we arrived at the house, we were appalled by the conditions that we found the dogs in: no water except for what was in containers filled by the rain; the dog food we had supplied them with had simply been dumped onto the floor and had hundreds of roaches crawling in it and the house was severely flea infested. Needless to say all of the 9 dogs were terrified and in very poor condition. Among those 9 dogs was Nova and her four very young puppies, one of which didn't survive the ordeal. Since that time, Nova has been given extremely good care and nursed back to health. She still needs to gain a little weight but is on her way to a full recovery. She has now been spay, received all of her vaccinations, wormings and even tested negative for heart worms on Sept 19. We've kept her on a monthly heart worm preventative and recently gave her Bravecto, a 3 month flea/tick preventative. Nova has spent the past couple of months in a foster home and has preformed exceptionally well. She's definitely people, dog and cat friendly, somewhat house trained and walks excellent on a leash. Her extremely friendly nature makes her an idea candidate as a family companion. Her only drawback, thus far, is that she'll relieve herself inside her crate if left inside it for too long. We think once she's in a home and given proper guidance, she'll become fully house trained. Her foster stated that she does very well when staying outside of her crate and isn't destructive at all. If you'd like more info on Nova or would like to offer her the type of home she deserves, please submit an application at socorescue.com
