Other Pictures of Oreo, aka Venus (click to see larger version):**Oreo is being fostered in Pennington, NJ. She will be at our upcoming adoption event at Rosedale Mills over the Feb 23-25 weekend.** Oreo first came to SoCo Rescue as a young puppy and quickly found a new home in the New Jersey area. We had named her Venus and her new family renamed her Oreo. At first, all was going very well for Oreo in her new home. But as she grew, her natural Border Collie personality started to become an issue with her family, namely, her desire to "herd". Without knowing she was doing anything improper, Oreo started to herd the family's other dog by grabbing it's ears when they played and sometimes became too rough with the other dog. This gave her family some concerns as their other dog was a bit older and didn't appreciate Oreo's level of play. Oreo did very well with the family's young child but again, her herding traits got her into trouble after she started grabbing the child's coat. Oreo never caused any harm to the child, just scared her. And still being a pup, Oreo lacked the proper training that she should have received to help control her level of play. Oreo will make someone a great companion, especially if that person is familiar with the Border Collie breed. With proper guidance she will excel as her breed is known to be very smart and quick learners. Based on what her former family stated to us, we think that a home with only older children would be best for Oreo. Oreo has been fully vetted and kept up to date on all of her vaccinations, wormings and monthly preventatives. She's house trained and walks easy on a leash. If you're a fan of the Border Collie breed and think you can offer this sweet girl the home she needs and deserves, then please submit an application at socorescue.com
