Onyx, along with her three siblings, came to SoCo Rescue as owner surrenders when they were approximately 2 ½ months old. They are the byproducts of yet another home that simply allows unsterilized dogs to mingle and continuously impregnate each other. This has led to a number of unwanted or unneeded litters being born over the past few years but the owners just don’t place a high priority on sterilizing their dogs.

Onyx, the runt of the litter, is very well socialized, playful and friendly but does possess a little shyness to her. Just like her siblings. Onyx is a riot to watch when she scurries across the floor and gets into her playful mood. Her short legs and small body, typical of her Dachshund mix breeding, keep her low to the ground while she’s moving quickly around.

Onyx is now approximately 4 months old and appears to be in excellent health. As of June 26^th, she’s received 2 of her 3 first year puppy vaccines, been wormed and treated against parasites as a precautionary measure. She’ll soon be receiving her rabies and bordetella vaccinations and has already been started on her monthly heart worm preventative. A microchip will accompany her at the time of adoption. Her adopter must agree to having her spay at the appropriate age (6-7 months) and supply SoCo with proof of such.

Being a young puppy, Onyx will need to be house trained and receive other basic guidance such as leash training. Along with her puppy playfulness, her adopter should expect to Onyx conduct herself in puppy like manner and be willing to give her the training and patience that any pup needs.
